Man, do I know what you are talking about, my boyfriend snored really bad. He had to sleep in a different room for about 4 years. Then I took him to the doctor and he found out that he had sleep apnea. He now uses a breathing machine and he doesn’t make a sound. Before the machine, he tried nose strips and they worked half of the time. I also found that he snored super loud when he laid on his back, that’s when I would kick him to roll over. It is very frustrating and it caused lots of arguments between us. Just try to remember 1 thing, he is not doing it on purpose and he has no control over that. Also if he is overweight and smokes, that makes the snoring 3 times worse.

If hes snoring really badly he might have to go to the doctors – he might not be breathing right in his sleep. Some people can use those stick on nose strips and it clears it up, but in more extreme cases people sometimes get diagnosed with a condition called “sleep apnea” where during their sleep thier throat doesnt allow them to breathe properly. If that is the case the doctors would give him advice, from lifestyle changes all the way thru to oxygen masks.

The cure for most peoples snoring remains elusive. Being overweight, smoking, alcohol and rhinitis all make it worse and these need to be addressed if relevant. If not I end up recommending Boot’s wax earplugs. They work quite well, the plastic or foam ones are quite useless.

Sound like it might be Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Have him see the doctor. The doctor will likely refer him to a Respiratory or Sleep Specialist. They will do a Sleep Study to find out exactly what is going on. The condition is manageable. See the link to learn more.
MedlinePlus – Sleep Apneahttp://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/sleep…
I have OSA.

kick them anytime they make a noise, then fall asleep real fast while they stop temporarily. if it doesn’t work at least you’ll feel better.
But actually give breathe right strips a shot it will open the septum…
check if he has allergies or to quit smoking if he does and get an air purifier.

Dad snores SO loudly! Mom learned YEARS ago to deal with it on her own. She may LIKE listening to him now. They’ve been married nearly 50 years! So, your BEST bet may be to LEARN to live with his snoring and grow to appreciate it! *grin* If he’s snoring, it means he’s BREATHING!!! *grin*

Nasal strips are on the market and you cannot not have heard of them. Wow that you would get it to this point that you would come on here to ask while he sleeps in another room
