I think my daughter is congested, any remedies?
Posted by: Alan in Stop Snoring Remedies, tags: congested, Daughter, Remedies, ThinkHer breathing is much louder. And shes sleeping right now and it sounds like shes snoring.
Shes 7 weeks.
Well, I just turned the humidifier on. If that doesn’t do the trick maybe I’ll look into the saline spray.

I’ve always used baby vicks on my kids’ feet, and then put socks on them, the coughing stops and it helps open their airways.

You didn’t say how old she is, but the best thing you can do is get some saline spray and squirt it in her nose. You can also use one of those booger suckers, and a vaporizer. If you don’t have one of those, just turn the shower on as hot as it can get, and then bring her in there with the door closed.
Good luck, I hope she gets better soon!

yes, i recommend the saline spray. my nurse told me about it in the hospital and it works wonders. I’ve been using it since my baby was born. I have dry air in the house with the heat and even with the humidifier on, he gets a little stuffed every now and then. just a little spritz up his nose and you can’t imagine what he sneezes out afterwards!

Recent studies suggest you not give any cold medications to a child under two because there was an increased chance of overdose and death in the 0 – 2 age group. Doctors will no longer per scribe or recommended medications for cold and congestion remedies for a child that age unless the case is very severe or life threatening.
That said, some of the symptoms can be treated. For instance plain saline is safe for all ages. I prefer a saline brand for kids like little noses or baby ayr since the applicators are meant for smaller noses.
Also, if your daughter is getting dried mucus around her nose, you can get gel saline and put it at the openings of the nostrils. This will moisten the dried on mucus for easy removal and prevent more mucus from drying on. You can find this next to the saline or in the children’s remedies section. If you cannot locate it, someone in the pharmacy can point you in the right direction. It works wonders.
If she is stuffy you can also try going in the bathroom and running some hot water so she can breath in the steam to help clear it up.
If it gets worse or persists, be sure to contact your pediatrician.

What my husband would do when my baby boy was congested turn on the water in bath tub on really hot then close the door and wait a few minutes then go in with the baby when there is steam. the baby will sweat but the congestion will be better maybe do it before bed and once during the day
