I’ve lived with my roommate for several months now, and her snoring is becoming unbearable. She is a friend but we are still getting to know each other, and I’m afraid to bring it up to her. When I fall asleep before her, it isn’t usually a problem because I can sleep through it, but anymore she’s been going to bed before me and I can’t manage to fall asleep anymore. We live in a house with several other girls, so I can just move to a couch if necessary, but I think it’s unfair for me to always have to move. How can I gently approach her with the topic and what are some noninvasive remedies? Thanks!

You can try to make it into a humorous situation instead of being like
“listen here, you snore way to loudly and are disturbing my sleep!!” you can try to make it funny. I’m sure she won’t mind.

try being friendly first about it…like in a joking way if she asks why do you look so tired.

Put a newspaper page over he face whenever she’s snoring, she’ll stop. If she asks about it, tell her.

my boyfriend snores and i told him if he doesnt stop i was gonna suffocate him with a pillow.

now he always makes sure i get to sleep before he does.

    try that.

Well for one thing, don’t look at the situation as though you are the victim and she is the villain. She doesn’t know! So stay away from thoughts like “its unfair for me to have to move” because she didn’t even suggest it. If you start to picture her as the “villain” your friendship will take a turn for the worse.

Just bring it up gently and say you never realized before since you had been going to bed earlier than her, but now that she is going to bed first its getting a little difficult.

Also, my boyfriend’s roommate snores, and according to them, when he starts he just asks his roommate to roll onto his stomach and apparently that does the trick.
