All jokes aside, you should convince him to undergo an assessment in a sleep clinic. My husband did and was horrified at the findings. He was only having something like 2 hours of REM sleep per night. He works long hours in the construction industry and drives a long way to work so this became a real concern for his safety. He also used to fall asleep at the drop of a hat and on the lounge all the time. He went on a sleep/oxygen machine which made the world of difference to his snoring and my sanity and soon after had his tonsils out and a nasal passage cleared and he also lost some weight. Sleeps so much better now. He was diagnosed with SLEEP APNEA. I suggest you do some research on the subject and understand that it is a potentially life threatening condition.

For his health, he should get a sleep study done. Insurance should cover it, because he could also have sleep apnea, which is pretty bad for your heart.
Other things: if he’s overweight, that makes snoring somewhat more likely. If he snores less on his side, sew a pocket onto the back of his jammies and stick a ball in there-it’ll be uncomfortable and he’ll roll to his side. (make sure it’s big enough he will notice it even in his sleep.) Control of any allergies will help. We hacen’t noticed a huge difference with the nose openers, but he doesn’t breath through his nose much.
Good luck, and I’m looking forward to seeing if someone has other advice to us to use!

There’s all sorts of websites to help you with that. Only thing we’ve ever tried that actually worked a bit were those tape things that you put on your nose at night to keep the passageway open. That was years ago though. After a couple decades of living with a man who snores .. loudly, I’ve decided I don’t care any more! Really, the only time it bothers me is if he is asleep and I’m watching a movie and he gets so loud I can’t hear what’s being said! Thank goodness for Tivo. I shake him a bit, then rewind to what I missed.
Really, life has been so much better since I’ve decided to just let him snore. If it bothers you to the point of not being able to sleep, there’s always those nice comfy earplugs.
    Good luck!

Refuse to sleep in the same room. Tell your partner you require at least 8 hours of sleep a night and you don’t appreciate your sleep being interrupted.

  5. free_ang says:

that’s nothing you can control. your partner could try a sleep clinic.

Unless he/she goes to a specialist for a sleep assessment, not much you can , do. Wear earplugs!
