Anything containing Guifanesin (Mucinex, etc.) will break up congestion like a champ.

Also, if you don’t have one, invest in a neti pot. Used daily (especially at night!), they’re extremely effective for sinus and allergies.

Good luck, and hopefully you get some rest!

Question by garnell j: i need a cure for snoring a over the counter remedy?

Best answer:

Answer by firephiter2000
there is NO over the caounter remedy that works for snoring.
I saw a device the other day, kind of like a mouthpiece you’d wear while playing football, that pulls your jaw slightly forward while you sleep, pulling your tongue from the back of your throat. If I’d have known about this BEFORE I had the UPPP surgery, it would have saved me about $ 3,000!!! I now have no uvula, but I don’t snore, nor do I have apnea any longer.

Question by zachary: what is the best over the counter snoring aid that works?

Best answer:

Answer by Qur?uba
Breathe Right nasal strips might help, according to others that have tried them….
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=491695
the downside…………..they are pricey!!
about £6 for 10 or a little under £14 for 30 is what comes up on a g00gle search price wise. You could try shopping around but they are not likely to be significantly less expensive than that. Maybe in the near future they will become available on the NHS….you never know ;)

Other tips:
Stop smoking if you are a somker …………..it is the best remedy yet for smokers snoring.

Go on a diet combined with a good exercise regime if you are chronically overweight…….being overweight has been linked to snoring.

Place a pillow or bolster behind your back to stop you rolling onto your back in the night….most snoring takes place when on your back in sleep.

Particularly if snoring wakes you, I also suggest you get a medical checkup to be sure it is just plain snoring and not a more serious condition known as sleep apnea.

Question by poool_wizrd: over the counter stop snoring devices is San Antonio, TX?
Trying to stop snoring and can’t find over the counter snoring devices. Don’t know where to look. Appreciate your help.

OTC do not work. Need to see a doc. Chronic snoring is often a symptome of sleep apnea. Should have a sleep study. Sleep apnea is a serious medical condition that leads to high blood pressure, heart disease, traffic accidents, headaches, strokes and much more.
