Question by Daniela: How do you manage your partner / spouse who has a habit of snoring making loud noise?
Have you found any effective solution ? What do you think is a reason for his/her snoring ? Physical , psychological or both ? or something else ? Are you able to sleep well on background of such snoring ?

Often snoring can be alleviated by losing weight, exercising more, quitting smoking or cutting back on drinking. My boyfriend has sleep apnea and, despite my requests, has refused to do anything about it (long term snoring and sleep apnea have been linked to heart attack and stroke). It’s gotten to the point where I find it more difficult to sleep without him snoring next to me (we’ve been living together for 2 years), although I have found when it’s really bad that if I put pressure on one spot just next to his sternum about 2/3 down his ribcage, he’ll stop for a few minutes and be quieter when it starts up again, but that may just be an anomaly.

Try sleeping more on your side. Many people snore more when they sleep on their backs. Try putting a tennis ball in a sock and pinning it to the back of what you sleep in. The ball will nudge you
if you turn over on your back during the night. Also, try using a humidifier at night. Many people snore because of undiagnosed allergies. The humidifier will ease your breathing, and reduce snoring. Worked for my husband.
