Question by Marie C: Do you think it is tacky that I fall asleep and snore while having beauty treatments done?
I often go to the spa for beauty treatments – facial, pedicure, massage, etc. and often fall asleep. I am told a little rudely that I snore very loudly & that it is distracting to do a facial on me when my mouth is open & I am snoring & drooling. I say just deal with it!!

i wouldn’t want to give you a facial like that! snore and drool somewhere else in the spa!!! like for the massage.
but, you’re the one paying for the service also. i would, for sure, not go back to the person that rudely told you anything!!!

Zapcap,
Diagnosing the problem is the first step to addressing the problem. A physical exam, patient history and a sleep study will help provide information to find the cause of the snoring or apnea. The doctor may order a sleep study to help with the evaluation. During the study, sensors are placed at strategic parts of the body and measure the heart rate, oxygen level, breathing and monitor other functions. The sleep period will be recorded on a video monitor and microphone by a technician for later evaluation by the doctor. Change your sleep habits. This can help to reduce or stop the snoring. For example: if you sleep on your back, sleep on your side instead of on your back, as this will prevent blockage of the throat due to gravity. You can also place a large pillow or sew some tennis balls into a sock and sew the sock onto the back of your pajamas to prevent you from rolling onto your back. Lose weight. Sometimes excessive snoring is due to excess weight or obesity. The weight makes the throat structures thicker and looser so it will tend to flop around more making breathing harder and increasing the risk of snoring and apnea. Avoid alcohol and certain medications such as sedatives, sleeping pills and antihistamines since they relax the throat muscles and can make snoring or apnea much worse. Same effect with alcohol; don’t drink alcohol for 4 hours before sleep. Snoring can also be caused by allergies or blocked-up nose and sinuses. Smoking makes snoring worse by increasing blockage in the nasal passages. Snoring or apnea can also be caused by a physical deformity or from a previous injury to the nose or the surrounding structures. Simple snoring can be corrected by a special mouthpiece called an oral appliance that is usually designed by a dental specialist with the help of the doctor.

Question by USA Rocks: Having a Problem with roommate?
My 5 roommates say im snoring while I sleep so they wake me up and yells at me to stop snoring every time I do it. I understand that It can be annoying but I offered to buy them earplugs and I wanted to get a humidifier because we live in Upstate NY and the winter is very dry but they told me the humidifier would make the rooms too humid and uncomfortable. Also the other problem we have is they are mad at me because I called the cops on them because 3 of them were selling drugs in the Apartment. I don’t do that and never have. They called me Judas and said I’m a prick for calling the cops. Also my lease isn’t up until May what can I do to get more sleep take a sleep aid. I go to bed around 10:30 and most of them go to bed between 3-4 so were on different sleep cycles. Help
