Sounds like your partner has sleep apnea, if so, your partner needs to see a doctor.

Question by Jen: Help with a snoring partner – what’s worked?
My boyfriend is a terrible snorer and it’s getting to the point where we have to sleep in separate rooms.
He normally sleeps on his back, but for a while was able to sleep on his side and NOT snore. Now, he’s snoring just as loud when he lays on his side.
I’ve tried earplugs, but it doesn’t drown out the noise. I can even be 2 rooms away and need earplugs because I can still hear him.
He also purchased a Pure Sleep mouth guard… again, it seemed to work for a few weeks, but now he’s snoring consistently with the mouth guard in.
Ideas? Suggestions?
My boyfriend could stand to lose a few pounds, but I wouldn’t consider him overweight. We’ve been together for a year and a half, and in that time he’s gained maybe 5-10 lbs. I havne’t noticed a difference.
I also know you’re not supposed to drink alcohol before bedtime, and he does sometimes. Neither seem to greatly impact his snoring.

most snorers are overweight, so that would be a good place to start.

Question by Daniela: How do you manage your partner / spouse who has a habit of snoring making loud noise?
Have you found any effective solution ? What do you think is a reason for his/her snoring ? Physical , psychological or both ? or something else ? Are you able to sleep well on background of such snoring ?

Often snoring can be alleviated by losing weight, exercising more, quitting smoking or cutting back on drinking. My boyfriend has sleep apnea and, despite my requests, has refused to do anything about it (long term snoring and sleep apnea have been linked to heart attack and stroke). It’s gotten to the point where I find it more difficult to sleep without him snoring next to me (we’ve been living together for 2 years), although I have found when it’s really bad that if I put pressure on one spot just next to his sternum about 2/3 down his ribcage, he’ll stop for a few minutes and be quieter when it starts up again, but that may just be an anomaly.

Question by what ever: First time away from baby and partner in 9 months and I can’t sleep…..?
HELP! I am on a weekend trip with my mother and my aunt and I am missing my boys something terrible. I can’t seem to sleep without the baby snoring softly next to me and my partner curled up with me, and my moms monstrous snores are not helping! How can I get to sleep, I feel so lost without them, and I can’t take sleeping aids as I have none, should I just call in the morning so I can talk to them and fool around on here until I drop off…anything else I could do to help fall asleep?

A thought, if you can “hug” your pillow, that might help. Definitely call them in the morning.
Try a warm bath or shower and hugging that pillow, that should help. If not, then just think about good things-like daydreaming, then you should be able to relax enough to sleep. You can be on the computer for a little while longer, but then if you are still “awake” try the above mentioned things.
Take care. Hurry home safely to your boys.
