Question by Brooke K: Why does my dad keep snoring?
My father has always been a snorer, but lately its been worse. We can hear it through the walls, my mom has gotten sick from no sleep. The nose stripes don’t work because he says they are too tight. Changing sleep positions doesn’t work. I have looked up some other causes, my dad is overweight ( that’s what the wii fit said ), he does drink, but he doesn’t want to to change. Is there anything we can do and please don’t say surgery.

Question by Scott P: Can the practice of jal neti–sinus irrigation–cure my snoring?
Best answer:
Answer by Tiramysu If your snoring is caused by nasal congestion such as hayfever or a cold, then perhaps. However, snoring can be caused by other issues, including deviated septum (bent nose) or much more serious sleep apnea.
I would recommend consulting a doctor — sleep apnea (breathing stops during sleep) can cause stokes, high blood pressure, or even kill you, and it is a common cause of snoring.
