Question by Daniela: How do you manage your partner / spouse who has a habit of snoring making loud noise?
Have you found any effective solution ? What do you think is a reason for his/her snoring ? Physical , psychological or both ? or something else ? Are you able to sleep well on background of such snoring ?

Answer by Allyson K Often snoring can be alleviated by losing weight, exercising more, quitting smoking or cutting back on drinking. My boyfriend has sleep apnea and, despite my requests, has refused to do anything about it (long term snoring and sleep apnea have been linked to heart attack and stroke). It’s gotten to the point where I find it more difficult to sleep without him snoring next to me (we’ve been living together for 2 years), although I have found when it’s really bad that if I put pressure on one spot just next to his sternum about 2/3 down his ribcage, he’ll stop for a few minutes and be quieter when it starts up again, but that may just be an anomaly.

Question by blondewithheart: How do you get a good night sleep next to your spouse?
My husband and I have recently married and so have only slept in the same bed for about a year with no problems. But now he’s put on some serious weight and it’s effecting how *I* sleep. For one, the access weight has created this slant….whenever he gets into bed (I usually hit the hay earlier than he does) I literally roll from my side into him (lol). And wake up. Then he tosses and turns like there is a wild boar next to me. I swear he jumps 10 ft up and slams back into the bed, which obviously wakes me up. He also just started snoring. Not too bad, but once he rouses me from sleep the snoring keeps me awake sometimes. And guys, we have a fairly-new bed that I bought for my bad back that set me back $ 1600 – on sale. What can a girl do? I’m exhausted when I wake up in the morning. I think it’s especially bad for me, who always idolized my bed as my “peace zone”. What do you do to cope? I’m thinking about taking some sleep aids…..or murder. One of the two )
PS- We plan on upgrading to a king (from the queen) to help, but that’s a few months away in our budget.
As we’re more or less newlyweds I just can’t bare to do seperate rooms. I can live with the snoring (which I know is caused by the weight gain). He played college basketball and worked out non-stop for the team- now he’s graduated and still eats the same (like a friggen horse) without the intense activity: hence the weight.

Answer by Sandy Ego My husband and I prefer to sleep in different rooms; he snores, and our sleeping habits are too different. If I was forced to share a bed with him, a murder-suicide would be the most likely outcome.

. It is a little bit price-y but hey if you know of someone who can’t sleep and you they have that sleep apnea and are at risk for even death then the price should be covered by insurance I think. Any one know if it is covered by insurance? What do you think of the new device to stop snoring? Sounds like a good idea to me, if anyone has gets more information please tell me. Thanks

Oh gosh thanks so much for making me laugh today. It is funny don’t you think? I like the one that said she was afraid she might actually kill him… and where it says they both snore and even the ones where they say sleeping in another room is cheaper. Oh I just pictured all of us talking about it and laughing our socks off. To hilarious
