Question by eqkens: Will Nasal Strips/ Spray work if person is snoring through their mouth?
I searched yahoo answers and found that Nasal Strips/Spray works well for those who snore but will it help those who snore through their mouth? My brother who sleeps next to my bed breaths though his mouth only so how can nasal strips/sprays help him if hes not breathing though his nose?
Also he refuses to sleep on his side because hes caution of getting more severe acne due to the pillow getting oily from his hair. He sleeps only on his back.
To add to all this, I have somewhat of an insomnia problem. I sometimes lie on my bed for hours and hours just thinking and thinking. Plus with his snoring, it makes me think even more…..
Please do help

Answer by frodobaggins115 They can help. Think about it, why does a person snore? Because he cannot breathe through his nose very well. So the purpose of nasal strips/spray is to open the nasal passages so one can breathe better. This may eliminate the snoring. If the problem persists, you can always check with your doctor about other possible treatments. Same thing with the insomnia. Your doctor should be able to suggest something for that too.

Question by La Cicada: Who has had that tissue removed from their throat to stop snoring?
I would like to know of the experience with the surgery, did it help? How long were you incapacitated?
Best answer:
Answer by TeriR Hello. I had the uvula and excess soft palate tissue that had developed from frequent sinus infections removed to stop snoring and sleep apnea. My doctor told me it had only a 50/50 chance of stopping the sleep apnea. Fortunately, I landed in the good 50%, and no longer have a problem with sleep apnea. My husband says there’s still a bit of what he would call snoring, but it’s actually more a little sinus noise. With the uvula gone, there’s nothing in the back of the throat to vibrate and make the loud noise usually associated with snoring.
Other than being in pain and not being able to talk very well, I was only incapacitated for about two days. However, I also had a deviated septum repair at the same time. Having both nose and throat surgery meant that I was in more pain and incapacitated longer.
All in all, I’d do it again in a heartbeat. It’s been very good for my health.
Good luck!

Question by m.i.s.s.: Has anyone else kicked their dad out of their life?
I feel really weird for talking on the phone to my dad or calling him or answering when he calls. He’s just really weird. Growing up my mom would have to kick him out of their room because he snored too loud & kept her awake, and he’d never just take snoring medicine. He ended up sleeping in the guestroom every night for years and they slept in separate bedrooms. They never really had a normal relationship and I think he has issues. He’s white and my mom is latina, she wanted a big family and he didn’t for financial reasons so I was the only child. He didn’t even seem like a father and now that I’ve been living on my own he feels useless as a father I actually feel happier when I don’t talk to him over the phone. He bought a big house and a nice car but money was always so tight because of the big house payments we could literally not afford anything else & he’d never let me do anything because of “gas prices”, etc. I couldn’t go anywhere unless it was school. What’s his problem??? And he’s also passive aggressive, paranoid/anxious, negative, and somewhat anti-social. He also never taught me anything or diciplined me but my mom was the one who did everything in raising me. He just brought in the money which we wern’t allowed to spend unless it was approved by him, and everything that was approved was garbage. He was a huge control freak. My mom left him but I stayed with my dad because my mom would have no money. Now that I am on my own I feel no urge or desire to call my dad or keep in touch with him, and I feel happier when I don’t talk to him. Should I just “kick” him out of my life? He seems useless as a dad, especially now that I provide my own money.

Answer by Lauren You dont necessarily have to kick him out of your life. Just keep in touch on the occasions, xmas birthdays etc and in the mean time if you dont feel like talking much then you dont have to, dont make rash decisions tho and tell him you dont want anythng to do with him. The fact he is calling you obviously shows he cares, even if it is in an odd way sometimes. my advice woould be to not make any decisions, if you dont wana talk one day then you dont have to, return his call another day, i think id u cut him out you will regret it in later life.

Answer by BabeHart .My lover snores. I see him so infrequently that it’s music to my ears (means he’s in bed beside me)…but if we were together regularly, I’m sure it would not be as appealing and we’d need to work on a solution. ???

Answer by Ashley W If you still have your tonsils, that may be the problem. Your tonsils may be enlarged; hindering the way air enters and leaves your body. If tonsils are removed, go to the doctor for a sleep study. They keep you overnight, and they monitor your vitals while you sleep. I found out I had sleep Apnea, where I stop breathing for a brief time while I sleep. Hope this helped
